Practice, practice, practice

So, If you've read a parenting book recently, you will know that in order to ease transitions with young children, you need to give warnings so they know what to expect. This is the way we do it at our house:

Me - "OK guys, you have a few more minutes to play at Grandma's and then it will be time to go home. Let's practice. When Mommy says "It's time to go." what are you going to say?"

Four-year-old - "OK, Mommy!"

Three-year-old - "Bad Mommy!"

Me - "Excuse me?"

Three-year-old - "Bad Mommy!"

Me - "Try again."

Three-year-old (Mumbling) - "OK, Mommy."
